Date: 19th March, 2016

Venue: Eden Gardens, Kolkata, India

Toss: India

Result: India won by 6 wickets

In a rain affected game Pakistan was into bat by Indian skipper MS Dhoni who won the all-important toss. Pakistan has a subdued start as the top 3 only able to accumulate 60 runs in 11.5 overs. Thanks to some late order impetus by Shoaib Malik and Umar Akmal leading Pakistan to a score of 118 runs in the allotted 18 overs.

In reply also stuttered a bit with Mohammad Sami picking two in two balls but the chase was anchored well by Virat Kohli 57*(37) and Suresh Raina 24(23) with MS Dhoni providing the finishing touch with 13 of 9 balls.

Kohli adjudged man of the match for his composed 50 to take India over the line.

Another low scoring one sided encounter between Pakistan and India during WT20 2014 was when Indian strangled Pakistan and restricted them to 130 runs in the allotted 20 overs thanks to late hitting by Sohaib Maqsood which made India chase more than run a ball. Heights of drama when arch rivals met in the final of an ICC event for the first time. After so many twists and turns throughout the match, it was down to the unfamous (for Pakistan fans) scoop of Misbah ul Haq of fast bowler Joginder Sharma when 6 runs required off 4 balls with the last wicket standing resulting in Indian win.

Indian skipper MS Dhoni won the toss and opted to bat. Gautam Gambhir scored almost half of the Indian total of 157 runs. He scored 75 runs 54 balls. Rohit Sharma also scored 30 crucial runs in later part of 16 balls including a dropped catch in the final over of Indian innings which cross the boundary for 6 runs.

Imran Nazir start Pakistan innings with a blazing 33 of just 16 balls before being run out despite an onslaught by Imran Nazir Pakistan lost wicket at regular intervals. Misbah scored 43 of 38 balls with a cameo of 12 runs of 4 balls from Sohail Tanvir with two sixes but all in-vain as India crowned champion of inaugural T20 Worldcup. RP Singh and Irfan Pathan took 3 wickets each.

First tied the match in T20 World Cup history and only second in T20I matches courtesy arch rivals Pakistan and India. The 10th match of the inaugural T20I world cup resulted in a tie.

Asked to bat first after winning the toss India was restricted to 141 runs by Mohammad Asif who claimed figures of 4/18 in his quota. Robin Uthappa scored 50 of 39 balls with important contributions from Dhoni and Irfan Pathan who scored 33 & 20 respectively.

Pakistan chase was never got going as they lost 4/47 in 9 overs. Misbah consolidated with 53 of 35 balls but without much support. 12 required off the final over and with two 4’s of Sreesanth; Misbah kept reduced it to less than run a ball as Pakistan needs 1 run of 2 balls but Misbah Pakistan couldn’t cross the line as Misbah fell short of the crease and get runout to make it a tie.
