Pakistan Former national cricket team captain Shahid Afridi has been appointed as the ambassador of the International Cricket Council (ICC) for the T20 World Cup starting next month.
ICC has announced the inclusion of Shahid Afridi in the list of tournament ambassadors as Shahid Afridi was a member of the T20 World Cup winning team and the player of the tournament.
Apart from Shahid Afridi, ICC has also appointed Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh, West Indies’ Chris Gayle and world’s fastest athlete Usain Bolt as ambassadors.
In this regard, Shahid Afridi said that the ICCT 20 World Cup is very close to my heart, was the player of the tournament in the first World Cup, won the trophy in 2009 and these are the remarkable moments of my career.
He added, “I am excited to watch the India-Pakistan match on June 9. It is a match between two great rivals and one will not miss it in New York.”
