Wicket Keeper Batsman Sanju Samson has been named as a replacement for injured Shikhar Dhawan for upcoming tour of New Zealand for T20 matches whereas opening batsmnan Pritvi Shaw will replace Dhawan in ODI series which will be played after T20 series..
Sanju Samson will replace Dhawan in Indian T20 team who picks shoulder injury during final one day international of the series against Australia. Dhawan didn’t come to bat as he picked up injury while fielding in Australia’s batting.
25 years old Sanju Samson has been on the fringes from quite some time due to impressive returns in domestic cricket as he already has 2 domestic T20 centuries under his belt during his short career. He also got call up to national side against West Indies recently but fell for just 6 runs. He has played 2 T20 matches for India at top level.
On the other hand Prithvi Shaw who is already touring New Zealand with India A side and scored impressive 150 in first match of the series and pushed his case to Indian selectors who were looking for Dhawan replacements.
20 years old Prithvi Shaw represented India in 2 test matches and is the youngest Indian to score century on test match debut for India. This is his maiden call up for Indian T20 team. His domestic limited over credentials are also impressive as he is maintaining batting average of 44 runs per innings with an strike rate of 117 runs per 100 balls.
