Gaddafi Stadium Lahore was named after former Libyan president Muammar Gaddafi. Hosted its first international match when Pakistan played against Australia in 1959 which Australia won by 7 wickets.

Initially, Gaddafi Stadium was one of the biggest stadiums of Pakistan with a seating capacity of 60,000 spectators, but after redesigning and up-gradation of the stadium it seating capacity decreases to 27,000 people.

In 1978 Gaddafi Stadium Lahore made its limited-over debut when a match between Pakistan and England took place at Gaddafi Stadium which Pakistan won easily. The First T20 match took place in 2015 when Pakistan played against Zimbabwe.
Gaddafi Stadium Lahore Major Matches
Gaddafi Stadium is the only cricket stadium in Pakistan that has hosted the final of Cricket World Cup in 1996 when Sri Lanka take on Australia under lights and become the new World champions of cricket. In all Gaddafi Stadium Lahore hosted 06 One Day International matches during 1987 and 1996 editions of the cricket world cup.
Gaddafi Stadium had also witnessed some great historic moments. Three test hat tricks have been taken by bowlers at thus vary ground. In 1997 Lahore crowds had seen one of the belligerent knocks from the bat of Ejaz Ahmed who scored 139 not out of just 84 balls against arch rivals India. Inzamam ul Haq also scored its test best of 324 against New Zealand in 2002 on the same ground.
Gaddafi Stadium Lahore is the same ill-fated ground where Sri Lankan team got attacked when they were on their way to the stadium in 2009.
PSL 2022 matches to be played at Gaddafi Stadium Lahore
In PSL 2022 season Gaddafi stadium Lahore will host 14 matches including the final of the event. Gaddafi Stadium Lahore is being considered the home ground of Lahore Qalandards.
Gaddafi Stadium Lahore previously hosted the final of Pakistan Super League 2017 edition. And it is also the ground on which first ever match of Pakistan Super League took place.
