England fast bowler James Anderson ruled out of South African tour due to rib injury which he sustained during second test match against South Africa which England won by 189 runs. James Anderson only manage to bowl 2 overs in South Africa 2nd innings before pulling out due to pain.

James Anderson at 37 years of age was making his comeback to international cricket after 4 month layoff due to calf injury which he sustained during Ashes 2019; but his comeback only limited to two appearances for England in first two test matches of the series before going out again for two months.

James Anderson is currently sitting on 4th place in all time highest wicket takers in test cricket with 584 scalps, most by a fast bowler in test history.

England will be hoping that fast bowler Jofra Archer who missed the second test due to sore elbow will get fit in time for 3rd test.

Craig Overton will remain available in South Africa as a cover for James Anderson. James Anderson so far represented England in 151 test matches in a career spanned over 17 years.
