Pakistan’s Abid Ali becomes the first batsman in world cricket to score century on both test and ODI debut in men’s international cricket.
Abid celebrates return of test cricket on Pakistan soil after ten long years. He creates this world record on last day of the historic test match Pakistan played against Sri Lanka at Rawalpindi cricket stadium.
In rain affected test match during which best part of 3 days play washed out by rain, Abid bring cheers for crowd during his record breaking innings.
Abid becomes the 106th batsman in test history to score century on test debut for his country. He is only the 12th Pakistani batsman to have scored test century on debut in Test Matches with Yasir Hameed is the only exception to have scored centuries in both innings of his debut test match against Bangladesh in 2003-04 at National Stadium Karachi.
Earlier this year Abid Ali registered his name in record books while playing against Australia in Dubai during an ODI when he becomes the second oldest player in ODI cricket history to score century on One Day International Debut after England’s Michael Lumb who scored ODI century on debut at an age of 34 years and 16 days.
Abid who was also in touring party of Pakistan who went to Australia but couldn’t find place in any of the two test matches Pakistan played down under and team management faced criticism by fans in Pakistan when they preferred Imam ul Haq over Abid Ali.
In and out of the Pakistan side despite good show in domestic and international matches this year brings joy to Abid Ali in bits and pieces as he made both his test and ODI debut for Pakistan in 2019 but he never failed to cease the opportunities given to him.
